KEYNOTE SPEAKER
DECOLONIZING WELLNESS

Olatokunboh Obasi

A wellness professional in clinical herbalism, functional nutrition, and indigenous ways of practice. Empowering people through holistic health and traditional thought, especially in woman-centered underserved communities.

I am Olatokunboh Obasi, MSc, CNS, RH (AHG), the owner of Well of Indigenous Wisdom School, an online and in-person international program in herbalism and the healing arts. I am a board-certified nutritionist, clinical herbalist, and birth doula.

I have been working in the wellness field for almost 20 years. I share my leadership skills in health advocacy as a guest educator at several schools across the United States and the world. I have been invited as a keynote speaker to many health conferences and enjoy sharing my wisdom on topics such as Decolonizing Wellness, Empowering Women, Reproductive Health, and Indigenous Ceremonial and Medicine Practices. I find movement a necessary key to wellness and have devoted years of study in the following: I am a forever student and Shiromani in the Sivananda Yoga tradition under my teacher Romi Singh, as well as a certified dance instructor in Synergy Dance, an Elemental Ethnic system, under my South African teacher Charmaine Lee.

Committed to community holistic health, social justice, and education, I work heavily in community service and Afro-Indigenous Medicine. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors of the American Herbalist Guild and chair the ARAC committee (Admissions Review Advisory Committee). In 2019, I received an award for my notable work supporting diversity, equity, and justice in herbalism within the organization.

My commitment to training local and online students in clinical herbalism and healing arts is an important purpose, as it represents leaving the earth responsibly for future generations. Living in one of my ancestral homes, Kenya, my travels around the world are extensive, as I integrate traditional knowledge of herbs with my western education. I received my Master of Science from Maryland University of Integrative Health and am a Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition candidate there.

I am a mother of three young adults and continue to learn from my children through challenge and tribulation, as I share my journey of life with them and the human family.
