I am a psychospiritual healer, author, and playwright/director. A dream specialist and proponent of Dream Community, I am also the author of This is a Dream, Listening in Dreams, and the forthcoming Quantum Dreaming. I co-host Dream Life Radio on WKNY, Kingston, NY. I call my method of nurturing creativity in my practice "Spell Breaking" and have edited two anthologies by this title. Other works include my seminal memoir, Pride of Family: Four Generations of American Women of Color, a New York Times notable book that continues as a Penguin Random House eBook. I am also a playwright and director of several large theater works: Njinga the Queen King, Io and Her and the Trouble with Him, The Lunar Opera: Deep Listening for Tunes, and The Nubian Word for Flowers: A Phantom Opera, created with my creative partner and spouse, composer Pauline Oliveros. As a founder of Deep Listening® retreats and practices, I mentor faculty and students at the Center for Deep Listening in Troy, NY, and teach worldwide. I am the former Artistic Director of Deep Listening Institute, Ltd., and Founding Director and Reverend Mother of the Ministry of Maåt, Inc., a not-for-profit organization nurturing spiritual and educational well-being for all sentient beings.
